Who we are
Seshat is made by x Create (Rijn Hartman) in South Africa. “We” means us; “you” means the person using Seshat. Questions go to hello@seshat.digital.
The beta
- Seshat is in an invite-only beta. We let people in a few at a time, and we decide who gets an invite and when.
- It’s a beta: features change, things can break, and the Beta languages aren’t yet tested by native speakers. Please tell us what goes wrong.
- It needs a Mac with Apple silicon on macOS 15 or later.
Your account
- You need an account to use Seshat. Sign in with Google, GitHub, Apple or an emailed code, and keep that sign-in to yourself. One account is for one person.
- Once you’re signed in, Seshat works offline. It checks your account when your Mac is online, and keeps working for up to 30 days between checks.
- Your account comes with usage stats: which apps you dictate into, counts, timings, crash reports and email opens, never your audio or your words. The privacy policy lists all of it. To object or have it deleted, email hello@seshat.digital.
Your words
- What you dictate is yours, and it stays on your Mac. We don’t receive it, so we don’t claim anything over it.
- If you send us feedback or a dictation report, you let us use what you sent to fix and improve Seshat.
Fair use
Please don’t:
- share your account or sell access to Seshat;
- get around the account check or the beta’s invites, or try to break into our servers;
- flood our servers with requests or send them anything other than what the app and website send;
- use Seshat to break the law or to record people who haven’t agreed to it.
If someone does, we may limit or close their account.
The speech models Seshat downloads are made by others and come with their own licences.
Accuracy
Speech recognition makes mistakes, and Smart cleanup can change wording. Read what Seshat writes before you send it, especially for anything medical, legal, financial or otherwise important.
Price
Seshat is free during the beta, and Gauteng AI Community members get it free. If that ever changes, we’ll tell you first, and we never charge you without asking.
If something goes wrong
- Seshat is provided as it is, without promises that it will always work or suit your purpose, as far as the law allows.
- As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect losses, lost work or lost profits from using Seshat, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the last 12 months (during the free beta, nothing).
- Nothing here takes away rights you have under consumer law that can’t be signed away.
Ending
- You can stop using Seshat at any time. Email hello@seshat.digital and we’ll delete your account.
- We may end the beta or close Seshat. If we do, we’ll tell you by email first.
Changes and law
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we’ll update the date at the top and email you before it applies. South African law governs these terms.
